At Salon K, we’re not just a team – we’re family! With a wealth of experience under our belts (too many years to count!), we’ve developed an unbreakable commitment to making all our clients look and feel amazing and confident. When you step through our doors, you’ll feel right at home with all of us, not just your stylist. We pride ourselves on our warm, welcoming atmosphere and our ability to make every client feel like they’re part of the Salon K family.

We are proud of the strong roots we’ve established in our community. And we’re proud of our neighborhood, too! Our team cuts and styles members of the Gay Softball League, members of the Lesbian Softball League, as well as many Drag Queens and Drag Kings. This is a safe space for all people. We proudly support the LGBTQIA+ community!

When we’re not cutting hair, we can be found volunteering our time, or sharing our talents with many local non-profit organizations including: Toys for Children with AIDS, Toys for Tots, The William Way Center, Homeless Veterans Fund, The Equality Forum, PRIDE and Outfest.

Kay Shrader

OWNER, MASTER STYLIST

Kay has been a master stylist for nearly 30 years, and now with Salon K Philadelphia, she’s bringing a whole new level of comfort and relaxation to her clients’ hair styling experience. With an undeniable passion for hair, Kay is constantly expanding her knowledge and skills, keeping up with the latest products and trends so she can provide expert advice to her clients on how to care for and style their hair.

Kay is an artist when it comes to hair. She specializes in creating custom painted dimensional color, no fuss ombre, beachy lived-in balayage, intricate cuts, clipper cuts, French bobs, asymmetrical masterpieces, and kickass blowouts. She takes pride in her attention to detail and uses her clients’ lifestyle and face shape to select styles that will accentuate their best features.

Kay creates versatile and effortless looks that are tailored to her clients’ individual style. She takes an organic approach to cuts and color, using the most effective methods when working with various hair textures, curls, hair growth, density, and head shapes. She is known for her thorough consultations with clients to develop a style that is uniquely their own.
